Three lowlife characters share living quarters above a restaurant. The arrangement becomes complicated when one of the three suggests they should invite the waitress who works in the restaurant to move in with them. She has been having marital problems and can no longer afford to pay the rent. When the estranged husband learns where his wife is now staying he shows up looking for her and says he is not leaving until he finds her.
