Criteria and Process |
|
|
The Senior Quarters staff carefully assesses each individual at the time of their admission. By listening to the resident and their family we personalize services based on need.
Our Admissions Counselor would be happy to discuss the needs of a potential resident. We would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to provide details of our services and to give you a tour of Senior Quarters.
We are available to perform on-site, pre-admission interviews and screenings, if necessary.
We screen our residents carefully to make sure that we can provide the level of care that they need and that they will be a good "fit" with the other residents. We also perform assessments to ascertain that the potential resident is able to benefit from the program that we offer.
General Admission Criteria for a Resident: |
- Have acceptable behavior and able to recognize an emergency situation.
- Be capable of going to and from the Dining Room and other necessary areas without assistance from another person.
- Be continent or able to manage incontinence themselves.
- Demonstrate mental, physical, and emotional behavior appropriate to community living.

Assisted Living is Often Tax Deductible
In most cases, much of the cost of assisted living is tax deductible to the resident or to a family member if the resident qualifies as a dependent. Under the Kennedy Kassebaum Act of 1996, a portion of the cost of care may be deductible.
The act states that the cost of maintenance or personal care services required by an individual may be tax deductible if the individual is unable to perform at least two activities of daily living, such as eating, bathing or dressing, or suffers from severe cognitive impairment and requires supervision to protect self and others from threats to health and safety.
The services provided, which can cover most assisted living and Alzheimer's care, must be part of a plan of care prescribed by a licensed health care practitioner. All current and prospective Senior Quarters residents and family members who give financial support to a loved one, should consult a tax advisor about this potential financial benefit.
