Socializing

Social activities abound at Senior Quarters. From special occasions to holiday events there's always something going on to keep our residents involved, active and entertained.

Senior Quarters communities are designed to be as comfortable as they are elegant. Each community has several large, beautifully furnished gathering areas and each facility is designed to enhance, and protect, the lives of our residents.

Short, carpeted hallways with chair rails, walls covered with artwork, and overstuffed furniture in cozy sitting areas, offer the look and feel of a normal home.

Many skylights and low windows bring in natural light. Ample sitting areas, fireplaces and televisions encourage interaction. In fact, most locations offer 40 percent or more common area.

Morning and afternoon coffee and refreshments in the hospitality area provide a great opportunity for mingling with friends or joining in a discussion of current events, upcoming activities or trips.

Special Events

Every week the residents of Senior Quarters enjoy a Happy Hour where local musicians come and entertain them.

We have a weekly lecture series where people from the community come and give slide shows and talk about interesting topics, such as travel, history, and art. Also, we have volunteers who come throughout the month to join the residents in a variety of musical, artistic and spiritual activities.

Three times a year, the residents put on cabaret style shows for their families and friends. Their many talents are showcased such as singing, playing an instrument and reading poetry.

In addition, there are many special occasions planned all through the year - ice cream socials, entertainment programs...and don't forget birthdays!

Holidays are always a special time. Residents enjoy getting involved in decorating the community and receiving visits from family and friends.

Pets

Every Senior Quarters community has at least one caressable pet, a dog or cat, and most have both; many homes also have resident birds, guinea pigs, rabbits and fish.

These pets give everyone companionship, comfort, calm and unconditional love. Pets are very effective in stimulating memories and responses in residents with memory impairments. Residents may also bring their own pet.

Allowance for a resident to bring his/her own pets will be determined on an individual basis. There are also frequent visits from a trained pet therapist who brings slightly more unusual pets, such as rabbits, goats, etc. There is also an aquarium in the living room of for all to enjoy.
